BETWEEN THE LINES # 1

BETWEEN THE LINES OF :

CARRY ON !!!!!!

Thrilling and sexy, funny and shocking, deeply moving and very, very magical. Trust me, you have never, ever seen a wizard school like this."

-- LEV GROSSMAN, AUTHOR OF THE MAGICIANS

carry on is a book for the talented Rainbow Rowell related to Fangirl, another novel for the same author. It is a fanfiction based on harry potter universe.
through the story, we discover the magic of watford, the magicians school and we follow the development of the characters. Simon snow, the mage heir, the chosen one, prophesied to defeat the Insidious Humdrum that risks their world.

THEMES :

The magic world :

I like that the story is inspired by The Harry Potter Series but at the same time this story is like no other. WATFORD has different rules compared to Hogwarts.
Spells are created by using common turns of phrase, and spells are stronger if you're using poetry or popular songs which is something i don't why i like.

The homosexuality :

The romance was good! A little strange at first because it was a new reading experience, but I liked the way it built. I really shiped SNOWBAZ SO BADLY !!!!
Also, I spent the whole thing wanting to go up to Simon and say, “The word you’re looking for is bi,” but that was a small matter. There are other queer characters in the story also, but just as background characters. One female character, Ebb Petty, has had relationships with other women, but it is not discussed in detail. Additionally, Penelope's roommate, Trixie, has a girlfriend.

Wizards society classes :

So apparently, in Carry On, wizards have different classes, there is different levels of power for each one. Some characters tried in the past to ban these weak magicians from attending Watford because they think they won't give no good for their community. some families insist their children get married to strong magicians so they could pass the power in the bloodline, just like Agatha.

STORY TURN ONS :

How authentically British it sounded, even though the author is obviously american.

The way the story is told, by switching the narrator, idk if this is only me, but i imagined every character's voice.

It’s hilarious. Seriously, there were moments when I laughed really out loud.

ALSO DID I MENTION THAT IT’S GOOD.

BAZ BAZ BAAAAAAZZZZZZZ

EVERY CHARACTER !! Except for ....*nospoilers*
